Trigger And Azuki Systems Each Raise Funds

Mobile firm Trigger, San Francisco, has raised $1 million in a seed round, with which it will launch its cross-platform HTML5 mobile development framework.

And Azuki Systems [1], an Acton, Massachusetts-based developer of video delivery technology, has raised $5.1 million in a round of venture capital which will be used for OTT distribution.

Trigger’s funding was raised through AngelList from investors Paul Graham, SV Angel, 500 Startups, Russ Siegelman, Steven Walske, RightVentures, Venture51 and John Taysom.

Trigger enables developers to write an app just once, before the service makes it simple to make the app compatible with Android, iOS and desktop browsers and then to distribute it across all devices and their marketplaces. Its framework is called Forge. Developers create their applications in whatever languages they’re familiar with – HTML, CSS and JavaScript – and then use Forge tools to build the app as native, with offline access and native functionality. The company also has a debug tool called Catalyst.

Azuki, founded in 2008, provides technology that delivers content to any device over a network, allowing content owners, enterprises and service providers to capitalize on the growth of smartphones, tablets and multiple screens.

Azuki recently announced that Showtime Networks Inc. [2], Los Angeles, had selected its Azuki Media Platform to power the Showtime Anytime authentication service on the iPad, giving Showtime subscribers instant and secure access to all Showtime programming on their iPads.
