Amscreen signs up with Powerleague
Sir Alan Sugar’s digital signage company announces client win
Amscreen, Sir Alan Sugar’s new digital signage company, has announced a five year partnership with Powerleague, the UK’s leading commercial 5-a-side-football operator.
The deal will see Amscreen’s digital advertising screens installed in reception areas across Powerleague’s 44 centres throughout the UK, carrying advertisements and information for the predominantly male customer base. The five-year agreement allows Amscreen exclusive digital advertising sales rights, as well as space for Powerleague’s customer information messages and anchor advertisers. Powerleague’s partners include Xbox, Nivea For Men, Nike, Lucozade and Carling. Currently, Powerleague has over 125,000 customers playing on over 465 pitches each week, with an average stay of two and a half hours per customer.
The deal will see Powerleague amongst the first to benefit from Amscreen’s bespoke ‘plug in and play’ wireless digital signage technology. ‘plug in and play’ allows screen content to be remotely updated via mobile technology, without the need for any cabling or site IT input. In a recent Amscreen trial in WH Smith stores, the screen advertising was found to impact on the sales of targeted items by over 13% and it’s hoped that Powerleague’s customer base, which is 97% male and 92% aged 40 or under, will be attractive to new advertisers.
Simon Sugar, CEO of Amscreen commented: “With five-a-side football now more popular than 11-a-side, we believe this is the perfect vehicle for advertisers to target men via our technology. We’re delighted to announce this deal with Powerleague and believe that the cost-effective benefits of our ‘plug in and play’ technology will be appeal to a range of advertisers and partners.”
Gillian Alexander Head of Sponsorship and Corporate sales at Powerleague said: “We are excited to be working with Amscreen on this project, which will give added value to both our customers and corporate partners. As the number one player in a growth market, we are always looking for ways to improve opportunities for major brands to work with Powerleague, and believe that Amscreen’s products can help us with this.”
