When #dse2013 takes place next February 26-28, it’ll be close but still no cigar for anyone hoping to ride SkyVue, the largest observation wheel in the Western Hemisphere (and #InfoComm13 of course will be in Orlando) as this wheel is scheduled to open July 4, 2013.

We missed noticing where the SkyVue’s foundation was already being poured prior to #dse2012, but we’ve been told it’s located directly across from Mandalay Bay. It will tower 500’ above the famed Las Vegas Strip and feature 32, 24-person gondolas and two HD LED multimedia displays at the center of the wheel, each measuring 50,000 sq. ft..

Sizing up to the length of two football fields, the distinctive signs will be the world’s largest displays offering spectacular visuals for the Strip’s three-mile stretch and beyond.

SkyVue, slated to become the largest observation wheel in the Western Hemisphere, will offer an unrivaled experience for both visitors and residents.

Howard Bulloch, developer of SkyVue. says, “The observation wheel is the perfect complement to the Strip, fueling both an economic impact for our community and creating a unique addition to globally-renowned entertainment offerings. With incomparable views and an impeccable design, SkyVue will be the must-see attraction next year.”

The climate-controlled gondolas will offer breathtaking views of the city skyline with each ride completing in 30 minutes. Guests will have the opportunity to rent out a gondola for private events, weddings, and more, complete with catering services.

Led by Bulloch and David Gaffin of Compass Investments, the US$100 million project will also include 20,000 sq. ft. of convention space and 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space, dining and entertainment options. The project will bring more than 700 construction jobs to the community in addition to an estimated 500 full-time positions for the entertainment, dining and retail offerings once the development opens.
