IAdea [1]‘s CEO John Wang chairs the standards committee of the Digital Signage Multimedia Association (DSMA) and tells us that the DSMA will be hosting a Digital Signage Forum during COMPUTEX TAIPEI [2] (June 5-9).
Many have suggested that our planned week long research trip to Taiwan [3] could be the week of COMPUTEX – we even discussed this with the COMPUTEX organisers who we met in Lost Wages when they announced their more formal tie up with #CES in January but …
- We are in Tokyo June 9th in prep for a week at Digital Signage Japan [4] and whilst we could head to Tokyo straight from Taiwan we think it would be too much of a culture shock (and a shame to dive so quickly from new culture to another)
- Secondly we want to spend some quality time with the people we meet in Taiwan (during COMPUTEX their minds will be elsewhere)
The DSMA was previously the ‘DS-SIG [5]‘, which was formed some 4 years ago as an informal ‘special interest group’ representing 150+ member companies.
This new association has only just been incorporated and they are, we understand, holding their first meeting this Friday (tomorrow, March 23rd) – when you think that some 144 attendees have registered for that first meeting you may come to realise what a powerful body this could be!
A new website dedicated to DSMA is expected to be up in the next few weeks.
The Digital Signage Forum at Computex is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 8th.
