Tannas Electronic Displays [1] (TED) of Orange, California, has announced that AEG Gesellschaft für moderne Informationssysteme mbH (AEG MIS) [2] of Ulm, Germany has become the latest licensee for TED’s LCD-resizing technology.
[3]With this type of resizing technology, AEG MIS expands its product portfolio to a new era of customized displays named ‘BMG ASD’. BMG ASD is available in different shapes and sizes.
Even triangular shapes are possible as recently demonstrated by two 32” TFTs cut into right-angled triangles. This display is just an attention-getter but it illustrates AEG MIS’s ability to offer unique customized displays to its customers. Traditionally, most customers prefer rectangular and square shapes of BMG ASD.
AEG MIS can offer BMG ASD up to 930mm wide and from 50 to 500mm high. The technology can also be used in a wide range of applications where standard sizes are not suitable, generally where there is a height or width restriction. In addition, BMG ASD can be used in stationary or mobile applications, indoor or outdoor.
In accord with company strategy, AEG MIS can supply either complete displays including software solutions or OEM assemblies for companies who wish to adapt the product to their own individual requirements.
“BMG ASD products are available instantly and can be resized in various aspect ratios and shapes while maintaining the original durability specification of the TFT- panel,” says Dr. Reiner Bayrle, AEG MIS major shareholder.
[4]TED licenses multiple U.S. and foreign patents and patents pending covering critical resizing technology developed by its president, Larry Tannas. The technologies allow for cutting LCDs to a smaller custom size and resealing the LCD to assure that the resized LCD offers the same characteristics and durability as the original display.
TED also has sublicensing rights to resizing technology developed by BAE Systems [5] (formerly British Aerospace). For over 10 years, LCDs have successfully been cut to custom sizes in the aerospace industry, and there is now rapidly increasing demand for re-sized displays in the signage and public information sectors.
