The UK’s largest Digital Media owner Amscreen  announced this week that Garmin – the world leader in satellite navigation and GPS technology within the likes of the automotive and fitness markets will be providing live local traffic feeds for the UK’s commuters for the summer and beyond.Garmin will be the official traffic sponsor on the Amscreen network and will provide live feeds at 1,700 forecourt locations nationwide.
The traffic sponsorship will also enable Garmin to advertise their products on the network, taking advantage of Amscreen’s unique technology, with the satellite navigation company currently promoting their Lifetime Maps service on the network, seen by an audience of over 20 million a week.
Anthony Chmarny, Head of PR and Sponsorship at Garmin said “A comprehensive traffic information service from a trusted source will be especially vital over this summer and the new Amscreen traffic sponsorship strategically fits with Garmin’s philosophy of helping people to their chosen destination safely and on time.”
The provision of the live local traffic feeds is the next stage in the partnership between Amscreen and Garmin , announced earlier this year.
Amscreen CEO Simon Sugar said “Travel around the UK this summer is a hot topic at the moment and we want to ensure that we do our best to help people get to where they need to be and to keep the nation moving. This is another great development in our partnership with Garmin and we look forward to further initiatives that will both utilise Amscreen’s unique technology and benefit road users across the country.”
The deal will also see them trialling new and innovative concepts utilising the likes of their Flexible National Content (FNC) platform, which enables generic content to be given bespoke local detail, in order to deliver pioneering ad solutions.
