i-vu Reportedly In Liquidation (Updated 16.01.09)

Giant hair dressing network i-vu is reportedly in liquidation.

We have known for some time that they have been struggling, at least all the signs were there; they got rid of their PR agency late last year, Mike Siilverman who joined them in June 2007 (what a waste of time that was) had been sniffing around for a new job since before Christmas, reports of screens in the US being long term down and out of action, there had been little or no advertising on the network to speak of for months AND the biggest clue perhaps (a) people ‘jumping ship’ (EnQii picked up some good ex i-vu people in the US late last year) and (b) generally a lot of CVs coming out of the company!!!

Interestingly we had heard separately that in the UK what was about to happen was an agreement whereby Simply Media TV Ltd (who already have a network of 600 or so hair dressing salons – purchased from VisionTV a few years ago) were going to run i-vu’s UK operations.

We guess this would have saved money and had a number of other operational benefits, not the least of which would be in media sales AND it appears that it has happened already. A Simply Media TV spokesperson told us “I can confirm that the day to day management of the i-vu network (not the company ) has passed over to Simply Media TV”

On the 1st December 2008 it appears that i-vu moved its UK people out of the GMH offices they shared in Hammersmith to Old Street.

Whilst undoubtedly there is still a period of transition here, we believe that to all intents and purposes the two networks have been unified since late last year.

What a riches to rags story this has become.

From the comments and emails we have been receiving it may well be that i-vu staff did not actually know about the liquidation until we broke the story. The administrators by the way, are Ian holland and Co. of Pinner, Middlesex, UK and a date has been set of 30th January for creditors.
