#CETW If You Are Planning To Attend

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

Customer Engagement Technology World wasn’t in this year’s plans for DailyDOOH this year anyway so we won’t be there, but if you are attending, we’ll certainly be interested in your views with regard your travel around New York and how you view #CETW compared to previous years.

When we look at TV photos of neighbourhoods of total devastation – eg. part of Queens has been totally obliterated – we wonder how people are coping, let alone thinking of business events. Yet as New York’s business and economy gets rolling again, it will probably leave the people and organizations that help, freer to assist the individuals and neighbourhoods that desperately need it, not only in N.Y. but also New Jersey, Connecticut and neighbouring states.

There seems to be a lot of cynicism about comments that NY City is getting back to normal. Nevertheless, for those planning to exhibit and/or attend CETW Nov. 7-8 at Javits Center, we pass along, without comment, CETW general manager Lawrence Dvorchik’s update, sent us on Saturday Nov. 3:

  • Full service restored from end to end on the 4, 5, 6 in Brooklyn, Manhattan & The Bronx;
  • The 7 Line has been restored between Flushing-Main St & 42 St-Times Square;
  • 80% of subway service operating today;
  • The Staten Island Railway resumed limited hourly service at 10 a.m. today. It should be back up to full service by Monday morning rush;
  • The A train to resume across East River as of Monday AM rush;
  • Newark and JFK airports operating at normal operations;
  • LGA opened Thursday and will be at normal operations by the end of the week;
  • Metro North (CT) and LIRR (Long Island service resumed last week and should be fully operational by Monday (MTA);
  • NYC Subways will be almost fully operational by Sunday (Cuomo);
  • Staten Island Ferry Resumed service Friday;
  • Atlantic City Casinos reopened Friday (Christie);
  • West Village to have power by midnight Friday (Assemblywoman Deborah Glick);
  • Power will be restored to all Manhattan by Sunday (Bloomberg);
  • NYC from 40th street and above has been at full capacity since Wednesday, almost completely unaffected.

“We are looking forward to a great show,” says Dvorchik. “Attendees continue to register, and NYC continues to recover at rapid, remarkable speed.”

    Gail:

    All of the information you posted above comes directly from either the MTA (@MTAInsider), Mayor Bloomberg (NYC), or Governors Cuomo (NY), Malloy (CT) or Christie (NJ). I am just retweeting it from them to share with others.

    We at CETW proudly support the efforts of NYC, and are pleased to bring our business to support NY. We hope all attendees and businesses do the same, and show NYC that we support their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

    Things are indeed running sorta smoothly as of now in NYC. There isn’t any subway to Javits regardless, so the only challenge may be the somewhat reduced taxis fleet as a result of the gasoline shortages. The main midtown area where most folks’ hotels are didn’t get hit too bad and most up there didn’t lose power. So logistically I wouldn’t expect any much worse than the usual Javits inconvenience… –Lou
