#dse2013 Corning Gorilla Glass @CorningGorilla

I had a short meeting with the charming Tara Dowdell, large cover glass product line manager for Corning Gorilla Glass [1], at this year’s #dse2013 to get a better idea of what the company is doing in the digital signage sector.

Gorilla Glass is considered the ideal cover for interactive white boards, digital signage, and other large-size public or multi-touch displays.

Dowdell provided me with a short demonstration of the very thin but very strong Gorilla Glass which had been launched on a 55’ LCD display solution with Microsoft Multitouch at #InfoComm12 and a 55” LCD display solution with Christie at #CES earlier this year.

The thin Gorilla Glass helps address the issue of parallax to deliver a more precise, professional solution with advanced touch alignment.

It better endures the ongoing contact typical for large-size devices, and it’s tough enough to withstand contact such as repetitive motion of touch. It also provides durability in classroom and conference room settings.

“It’s now possible to use a much thinner and lighter glass on digital signage,” said Dowdell, located in Sharghai.
