NewBay Media Buys Signage Solutions’ Assets

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

As we announced earlier today, NewBay Media, New York, has purchased Signage Solutions, the three year old Texas-based magazine, from founder, publisher and editorial director Ben Skidmore/ Partners Publishing.

Skidmore says that when he founded Signage Solutions – a free magazine for qualified subscribers – he always had an exit strategy, and “The timimg was right.”

NewBay Media has acquired the assets of the magazine including its web assets, editorial content, and subscriber lists for an undisclosed sum. Skidmore and Kristie Thymes, Signage Solutions’ western representative, will work with NewBay’s sales teams on contract.

Signage Solutions as a name will cease to exist as its circulation – which Skidmore says was about 18,000 – will be folded in with that of Digital Signage magazine. It is understood that there will be certain amount of duplication in the two subscriber lists. Most editorial of Signage Solutions had been via freelancers. The last edition was the May-June issue.

“By working with Ben and his team at Partners Publishers’ Representatives, we can expand our reach into select markets and deliver more options to our marketing partners and readers,” says Adam Goldstein, executive vice-president publishing director for NewBay Media.
