  1. Describe your personal workspace. My personal work space is my sanctuary. This is where I do my best work. I can typically be found intentionally ignoring the passing public by wearing my noise-cancelling head phones and locked into a terminal where I seem to impress myself on a daily basis. If one’s not satisfied with themselves, how could anyone else (AKA key salary decision makers) be satisfied with them?
  2. How do you get to work?I live on the top story of a condo in the heart of downtown Toronto: my favorite city in the world. I commute to work by car, through city traffic daily. It takes more than that to get me out of a good mood 😉
  3. What is an average day like?My personal work space is generally speaking much cleaner than it could be 😉 It is also busier than the NYC subway line. Working in IT, I have grown accustomed to not planning anything and just going with the flow!In an average day I would typically be monitoring resources, fixing sudden issues and finding time to research and learn about new technologies as well as procure technologies that would better assist Capital Networks Ltd.
  4. What is your favourite activity outside of the work place? If I’m not working, you could find me either at the gym/Hot Moksha Yoga class or performing many charitable acts, such as fixing family/friend’s computers (Not for Profit). I enjoy traveling, drinking and technology. People fascinate me so Biographies are usually my preferred read. My favorite Bio: The Google Story.
  5. What is essential to you being able to work happily?Just having a job is enough to keep me happy at work regardless of the day.
  6. How flexible are your working conditions? My working conditions are extremely flexible. When there aren’t any sudden issues (Wednesday morning between 3:00a.m. and 3:07a.m.), I can pretty much do whatever I want as long as it is directly affiliated with my job.
  7. What do you think your employer looks for in its staff?I think my employer looks for people that take initiative as well as ownership. I think a big problem with today’s working society is finger pointing and a major lack of ownership. I think employees should stamp their name next to anything they do and understand that it belongs to them while they do it.
  8. What suggestions do you have for your company? The only suggestion I can think of is maybe a raise and a parking spot for my scooter? Maybe??
  9. What do you like best about your job?The thing I like best about my job is the people.
  10. How open is your company to new ideas and suggestions?Having been the IT lead for 13 years at Capital Networks, my ideas are always welcomed by colleagues and upper management. I am essentially responsible for all IT here at Capital Networks.
  11. How green are you and your company?Funny you should ask about how green we are. I just recently completed a global virtualization plan reducing our CAPEX and OPEX by consolidating 38 servers into 2. I know it’s pretty impressive. Maybe my grandkid’s grandkids can take over when I’m gone 😛
  12. What inspires you?Self motivation and my family are my only inspirations.
  13. What are your ambitions? My ambitions are to ensure that my employer stays up to beat with technology and that I play my part effectively on its technical team.
  14. If you could change only one thing in your work or workplace, what would it be?If I could change just one thing….It would be my salary….I’d double it 😛
  15. How much time do you devote to social networking?I do not spend much time social networking while at work, but I am heavily involved in social networking outside of office hours. Facebook/Twitter/Youtube are the majors.
  16. What are your most useful tools you use to do your job?My most useful tool has to be my ability to tear down a problem and troubleshoot. I have also been told that I tend to communicate technical details very well to both technical as well as non- technical people, and I think that is vital.
  17. What would be your dream job?My dream job would be no job 😉 For now I am perfectly happy where I am.
  18. What makes you laugh during the workday? My colleagues and I are always good for a chuckle during the day. I really believe it plays a hefty part in getting through the day.
