Surely, @ScalaInc, Somethin’s Gotta Give?

Possibly, it was hard (for the casual observer) to sort out employees, partners, hangers-on and real prospects on the Scala stand at #NRF14 but considering it was their first time exhibiting at the event we can only imagine that they are as pleased as punch that they did – dozens and dozens of people have told us that their stand was absolutely buzzing.

Here’s the problem though…

Frankly, I don’t see how they can support NRF, ISE and DSE all in the space of four weeks.

Yes, I know they are committed this year to those events and will no doubt pull it off BUT going forward, looking at 2015 (when at least ISE and DSE* are not literally back to back like they are this year) I still don’t see why any business would want to do all those shows in the space of 4 – 6 weeks (and all at the beginning of one year) – no doubt spending a large chunk of their marketing budget all in one go!

There’s even a ‘clash’ this year in Europe for any signage business interested in the hospitality sector they’d be much better off (in our opinion) exhibiting at Hospitality Technology Europe taking place in London, Feb 4 – 5, 2014 than being in Amsterdam at ISE which is ostensibly an AV Channel oriented event that gets little or no end users.

Next year, one of those events needs to give and, to-be-brutal-to-frank, I don’t think it will be NRF!

In 2015, NRF takes place January 11 – 14, 2015

In 2015 ISE will move to the second week of February, the organisers stated “making it easier to manage for exhibitors who also attend January events in North America such as CES and Winter NAMM”

* In 2015 DSE is back at its more normal time (and its usual location, the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall) March 10, 11, 12 (the show days are 11 and 12)
