Shuttle Becomes A Certified @ScalaInc Partner

Marty Lash, director, sales & marketing at Shuttle Computer Group Inc. [1] – and, I must say, one of the most laid back people I met at #dse2014 – told us that Shuttle is now a certified Scala [2] partner for its Scala-certified media players.

IF [3]Shuttle Computer, the North American subsidiary of Shuttle Inc., a publicly traded company established in 1983, specializes in small form factor PC hardware for digital signage, point-of-sale and interactive kiosks in the retail, restaurant, food service and hospitality industries.

Shuttle’s DS61 digital signage players have undergone a battery of tests to ensure compatibility and performance.

Since these devices are pre-imaged with Scala player software, they are easy to install and use in any Scala-based digital signage application.

“Obtaining Scala certification for our DS61 i3 and i5 players is a great accomplishment for Shuttle,” said Lash. “It’s a rigorous process, and we’re proud to show that our products meet and exceed Scala expectations.

“At #dse2014, we were exhibiting our new ARM-based digital signage players,”
Lash told us. “The dual core and quad core players – primarily Android-based although we will have Linux – will be available in Q2.”

Based in the City of Industry, California, Shuttle is a 30-year-old company that started by making computers, moved into computer gaming. It moved into digital signage three years ago.

“We are very customer-focused,”
Lash said. “What do you need? We can do it. This year, our aim is to work more with software integrators and hardware partners with solutions that they can take to market. We are working with companies such as Sharp, Panasonic, ViewSonic and more.

“We are very optimistic that 2014 will be a good year. We’ll also be introducing new security solutions in Q2 – and we are working on point-of-sale partnerships, as well.”
