SUMMARY:POPAIDigital’s Digital Media in Retail Forum
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/594
DESCRIPTION:Jason Cremins, the UK's new POPAIDigital chairman is starting to make an impact with his plans to re-focus the working group based on one of its original core principles of 'retail'. \n \nNext week sees one of his new initiatives - a 'Digital Media in Retail Forum' which has been set up to provide a focus group targeted at exploring every aspect of what makes Digital Media in Retail work (or not work). \n \nThe aim is that the Forum should include stakeholders from every discipline involved in the deployment of Digital Media in Retail including, I am pleased to say several Retailers (loud cheer!!!). \n \nThe idea is that the Forum will set the agenda for POPAIdigital going forward and ensure that all aspects of Digital Media in Retail are covered including: \n \n \n	What is Digital Media? \n \n	How can it be used? \n \n Good examples of Digital Media in Retail? \n \n	What are the business models? \n \n	How do you establish objectives and most importantly, how do I measure success? \n \n \nAs long as they don't start calling the Retail networks, RetailTV I think they might be onto a winner!! \n \nThe Forum will be represented at all future POPAI events, reporting back on progress and findings, keeping members informed on the development of Digital Media in Retail and listening to suggestions for future research and topics that require addressing. \n \nIt's also fantastic that both the DDR and In-store magazines will be running regular columns on the work of the Forum - which of course helps ensures the messages get directly to Retailers. \n \nI am also told that the ultimate objective of the Forum is to create an invaluable online resource of information for anyone considering using Digital Media in Retail. \n \nThe inaugural meeting of the Forum will be at 3pm on December 5th at the St Giles Hotel, Bedford Avenue, London, WC1B 3AS.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:The Screen Forum Ltd “Audio” Morning Tues Dec 11th
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/620
DESCRIPTION:You may have noticed that there wasn't a Screen Forum Annual Conference this year - this was a shame I thought but they do take a lot of organising and the half day networking events that the Screen have been organising (the previous one was the Content Forum) have been so well attended (60 - 70 folks) they were almost the size (capacity) of the annual conference (80) anyway! \n \nNext Tuesday (late notice I am afraid) sees the Screen Forum host another networking event. This time the focus is on 'audio' \n \nWe all know the importance of content - but how about SOUND. \n \nSound should be the easiest way to ensure impacts - but how does audio work with content and what stops sound from becoming noise... \n \nThe Screen's Audio Morning on Tuesday 11 December will be an informal meeting with brief presentations by audio market specialists and network operators who have worked with and without audio. The objective is to broaden our understanding of audio and to consider some of the issues relating to this critical aspect of the digital media market. \n \nIn addition to presentations there will be a continental breakfast provided and the opportunity to network and discuss the issues raised. \n \nWho is it for: Network owners, Operators & Interested Parties \n \n \nPresentations include: \n \n \n Providing the context, science and business case for audio will be reknowned audio business expert Julian Treasure. \n \n Providing the experience from the field, will be Claire Merrick from BP-TV, revealing how the addition of sound has effected their in-store and outdoor forecourt networks. \n \n Providing the media sales angle, Stuart Tiedman from ABC Media will be comparing media rates and campaign effectiveness between in-store TV and in-store radio. \n \n Providing the market insight, Tibor Kovaci from MoodMedia will be giving us the latest in customer and supply-side activity from around the world. \n \n \n \n \nDate & Time: Tuesday 11 December 2007, 9:00am to 11:00am \n \nVenue: The Private Screening Room, \n The Hospital, 24 Endell St, London, WC2 9HQ \n \nCost: (includes breakfast) \n \n Screen Members: FREE \n \n Non-Members £45 plus VAT = £52.88 Click Here To Pay \n \nPayment: Any one of the following: \n \n· Credit card, simply click on the relevant link above. \n \n· Cheque to The Screen Forum Ltd, 6 Marylebone Passage, London, W1W 8EX \n \nNote: There are limited places for this breakfast briefing so please book early \nIf you have any enquiries please email me or Femke Schoonus at femke@thescreen.org.uk. \n \n\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:Sign and Digital UK 2008
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/689
DESCRIPTION:As several other people in the US state-side have said - there are far too many 'digital signage' shows cropping up at the moment. \n \nI went to this 'Sign and Digital UK' show earlier this year when it was simply called 'Sign'. \n \nTo my mind, it is really a show for printers, sign makers, sign writers, print machine manufacturers etc but in 2007 it had a digital signage bit bolted on. \n \nI wrote about it then at the time with my (old) Screen Forum hat on. The Digital \nSignage Showcase (as I think it was called) was well represented with GOOD stands from Dynamax, Remote Media, 3M, Fairfield Displays, Nexus Media and a few other wannabees (all of the presentations from the event, apart from the ones from Dynamax are still up on the Screen Forum web site here) \n \nMy impression of the show was a negative one though and I believe poorly attended. I am not surprised that the show organisers have slightly re-branded the event (adding the "and Digital" text) but I am surprised to see Remote Media continuing their support of the event and taking another stand this year. \n \nIt's being held on the 22nd - 24th April 2008 at the NEC in Birmingham but I can safely say that if you don't attend you won't miss anything of importance. \n \nwww.signanddigitaluk.com\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:Digital Signage EXPO2008 (Essen, Germany)
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/734
DESCRIPTION:A couple of Dutch vendors have told us that they will be attending the pan-European Digital Signage EXPO2008 6, 7, 8 May 2008 in Essen Germany. \n \nThe event is described as "the only truly pan-European event for digital signage solutions" though I think we would agree that Screen Expo Europe is also in that fold. \n \nI bet in fact that Screen Expo gets more continental European attendees and exhibitors than UK folks (what with the English / UK reserve about trade shows in general). \n \nIt's not clear yet exactly who will be exhibiting, we have asked round the usual suspects and had a mixed response. I think it could be a good event as it is in a good location to attract continental European vendors (hence the Dutch folks driving over to it) but we will reserve judgement until we get the full exhibitor list (and of course let you know). \n \nWe do hope to be covering the show in person with 1 of our German speaking researchers plus, most probably myself. \n \nhttp://www.digitalsignageexpo.eu/ \n \nBy the way, we had a lot of support for our criticism of "Sign and Digital UK 2008" with a lot of last year's exhibitors and attendees telling us that they were not planning on going to this event next time round.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:Are Scala the only ones at NRF?
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/798
DESCRIPTION:NRF starts in New York on Monday and runs 14th to 15th Jan 2008 \n \nScala, Inc., a provider of end-to-end digital signage software, has announced participation in the NRF 97th Annual Convention & Expo to be held in New York, NY, January 14 - 15, 2008. Scala will be located in the Customer Experience Pavilion in booth #2669. The company will highlight its next-generation digital signage software platform, Scala InfoChannel. \n \nPlanar (Coolsign) told us a few months back that they would have a presence via Diversified Media Group (one of their network operations partners) but apart from them and Scala we don't know of any other big players attending this (pretty serious) Retail event. \n \nBoth Scala and Planar seem to be 'pushing the boat out' this calendar year with shows. Brad Gleeson at Planar told us "We'll be exhibiting at ISE in Amsterdam and I'll be visiting the Screen show with the goal of determining whether we should add that to our schedule for the following year. Our big show of the year will be the Digital Signage Expo in February". \n \nPlanar's other (relevant) events this year seems to look like this... \n \n \n \n	January 29-31, 2008 Integrated Systems Europe 2008 Amsterdam, Netherlands #A88 \n \n	April 14-17, 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2008 Las Vegas, NV, USA #SL9828 \n \n	June 18-20, 2008 Infocomm 2008 Las Vegas, NV, USA #N6332 \n \n \nScala's event plans are even grander... \n \n \n	January 29-30, 2008	Out-of-Home Digital Media Content Strategies Conference Las Vegas, NV \n \n	February 5-6, 2008	Screen Expo	London, UK \n \n	February 23-27, 2008	Euroshop	Dusseldorf, Germany \n \n	February 27 - 28, 2008	Digital Signage Expo	Las Vegas, NV \n \n	March 31 - April 3, 2008/td> Digital Signage 2008 Conference San Francisco, CA \n \n	April 1-3, 2008	Marketing at Retail POPAI	Paris, France \n \n	May 6-8, 2008	Digital Signage Expo	Essen, Germany \n \n	June 18 - 20, 2008	Infocomm08	Las Vegas, NV \n \n \n\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:Screen Media India - Broadsign and VJive Networks Title Sponsors
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/818
DESCRIPTION:We previously reported that Screen Media India is happening 20th March 2008 in Mumbai - it's just been confirmed that the title sponsors are BroadSign International and VJive Networks. \n \nLondon, UK, 14 January 2008 – Screen Events Ltd today announced the launch of Screen Media India - Mumbai 2008, a new conference focused on the fastest growing new media sector in the country since the Internet. The conference aims to bring together end users, government bodies, marketers, technology suppliers, entrepreneurs, financiers and content professionals from across from world under one roof to network, share experiences and explore the potential of this exciting new communications tool. BroadSign International and VJive Networks have been announced as Screen Media India title sponsors. \n \n“We have already set foot in India, which is a very promising market for digital out-of-home advertising, and we are expanding our presence here. So it makes perfect sense for us to participate in the first digital signage conference in the region,” said Patrick (Rick) J. Engels, President and CEO, BroadSign International. \n \nThe advancement of India’s screen media market is primarily driven by the explosion of the country’s economy, which is growing at 8% per year. Organised retail in particular is forecasted to increase eightfold by 2010 to a $70bn sector. Other trends impacting the adoption of screen media is the fragmentation of traditional outdoor advertising and point-of-sale material, and an increase in technologically and culturally sophisticated consumers. The Indian market’s existing wealth of TV programming and its strong independent production sector will also encourage further development, as digital screens provide an additional opportunity to deliver content to new territories and audience profiles. \n \nCommenting, Mark Pigou, Director, Screen Events, said, “The support commitment from BroadSign and VJive Networks demonstrates the importance of the maturing Indian screen media sector. Our annual Screen Expo Europe in London has established itself as the place to do business for both supplier and user communities. Now, Screens Mumbai 2008 offers a chance to do the same in Asia.” \n \n\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:STRATACACHE “huge but hidden”
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/824
DESCRIPTION:Following on from our post about NRF last week, it seems that STRATACACHE has had a change of heart (it was just going to be one of their partners with a booth and stand - but no longer). \n \nThey have subsequently just announced (Press Release below) that an updated version of its digital signage solution, ActiVia for Media 3.2, will be debuted at the NRF Show this week. \n \nSTRATACACHE ActiVia for Media 3.2 Digital Signage Software Makes Debut at Retail’s BIG Show 2008 \n \nNew Release Manages Digital Signage Lifecycle with Multi-Layering Capabilities \n \nJanuary 14, 2008— STRATACACHE announced today its release of ActiVia for Media 3.2, an updated, more robust version of its widely distributed digital signage solution. ActiVia for Media 3.2’s new feature set includes multi-layering capabilities for single or multi-display players, which allows users to present multiple layers of digital media content within their digital displays across the entire network. \n \nActiVia for Media 3.2 will be showcased in STRATACACHE booth #1936 at Retail’s BIG Show, the NRF’s Annual Convention and Expo. The BIG Show takes place January 13-16 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. The show brings together the industry’s top executives with vendors involved in all facets of retail business and technology. \n \nActiVia for Media is a highly optimized, web-accessible solution for powerful digital marketing that combines STRATACACHE’s patented content delivery platform with state-of-the-art digital broadcasting technology. With its new multi-layering features, ActiVia 3.2 can manage the digital signage lifecycle for multi-layered playlist creation, distribution, and monitoring of digital signage networks containing up to 100,000 concurrent devices. Users now have the option of displaying a combination of multiple types of digital media such as video, images, and tickers all at once on a single screen or multi-screen array. \n \n“ActiVia for Media 3.2 represents a huge engineering effort resulting in the most scalable, advanced system for easily managing even larger, more complex digital signage networks, thus providing improved opportunities for reaching customers precisely when and where they are spending money,” says Steve Bannister, STRATACACHE VP of Engineering. \n \nThe process for creating and managing digital media playlists is made easy with ActiVia 3.2. Digital objects are imported (images, rich video, animated presentations, HTML files, flash demonstrations, text-based messages, etc.) into a secure authenticated content manager. Users can then create multi-layered screen layouts for various types of content and, with simple drag-and-drop tools, create playlists by selecting the digital content and determining the time and duration for each element. \n \nNext, users schedule the date and time for the playlist playout to designated media devices using a simple calendar interface. ActiVia 3.2 distributes the content to the player devices throughout the network. Each of those devices is continually monitored in case any operational problems occur. If a problem arises, notification is sent to the ActiVia management console. \n \nActiVia 3.2 gives users the power to create a fully-integrated multimedia network. Features include: \n \n· Multi-layered playlist creation using a simple drag-and-drop tool \n \n· Instant or pre-scheduled unicast or multicast content distribution to any single player, group of players, or all players simultaneously \n \n· Centralized backup and restoration of media player configurations \n \n· Centralized push of configuration template files \n \n· Ability to select players for distribution by player properties or geographical location \n \n· Simple, elegant interface that facilitates use by marketing personnel \n \n· Advanced display layout and content scheduling tools \n \n· Powerful, role-based access control system \n \n· Multi-user, multi-channel, multi-tenant system capabilities \n \n· Powerful visual status reporting on global display status and health \n \n· Remote management of players and devices \n \n· Cost-effective and hardware-agnostic. \n \nActiVia can be purchased as a customer-deployed solution, through a software as a service (SAAS) engagement, or as a managed service via STRATACACHE or partners worldwide. \n \nAbout STRATACACHE \n \nSTRATACACHE is the world leader in efficient, scalable and cost-effective content distribution, digital signage/digital media presentation, IP business television, and application acceleration solutions for highly distributed, network connected organizations. SUMMARY:European Digital Signage Show, London 1st and 2nd Oct 2008
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/1047
DESCRIPTION:KioskCom have just announced the "European Digital Signage Show" which will run alongside KioskCom Europe 1st and 2nd October 2008 in London. \n \nWe haven't spoken to the organisers yet nor seen the exhibitor list but as soon as we do we will let you know what we think. \n \nLONDON — KioskCom has announced the launch of The European Digital Signage Show, which will premiere alongside the 2008 KioskCom Self Service Expo Europe. The European Digital Signage Show will take place on October 1 – 2, 2008, at Olympia 2 in London. \n \nKioskCom draws on more than 12 years of experience in putting on successful events in the United States, where the show takes place twice a year in Las Vegas and New York. The event was brought to Europe in 2006 with huge success. Now in its third year, the show has grown significantly in both size and attendance. Each year it has seen increases on every key performance level, and it will have more than 100 exhibiting companies this year. \n \n"Digital signage has always been a core element of the KioskCom Europe show," said the show’s event director Phil Hunter. "Each year we have seen more and more exhibitors displaying digital signage solutions; some companies displaying them as separate product lines to their current kiosk and self-service solutions, some companies focusing solely on digital signage. It makes a lot of sense when you consider that we deliver a large number of attendees who state that one of their top areas of interest is digital signage. \n \n"That is why it makes perfect sense to take advantage of those buyers we already deliver and launch The European Digital Signage Show alongside our existing event. It gives the buyers the perfect opportunity to look at some of the most advanced customer-facing technologies out there today, all under one roof." \n \nSee http://www.kioskcomeurope.co.uk/\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:WBCM ‘08 - DailyDOOH Distributions…
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/1083
DESCRIPTION:The first of a (relatively) new initiative sees DailyDOOH stretch its brand to content distribution - something the team here have a lot of experience with, having, after all, fallen into the Digital Signage technology and Digital Out of Home business sectors from Internet Protocol (IP) based content delivery and music downloads via the dot com boom and bust 7 years ago. \n \nIt's also something we did last year when we initiated, 'sold', managed and co-ordinated pro-bono the Macmillan Cancer Support World's Biggest Coffee Morning (WBCM) digital campaign which ran thanks to all those UK networks that donated air time - 22 networks in all, making it easily the UK's biggest digital screen network campaign of all time AND importantly we think showing everyone what can be done if the networks work together. \n \nAnyway WBCM '08 this year is being held on Friday (it's always a Friday) 26 September 2008 and we have already started planning for the event - even having had the first client meetings (6 months ahead). We hope again that networks will donate air time as they did last year and we hope also to plan (earlier) and better and get the very few networks that didn't take part last year on board this time (some brands have their own preferred charities and so politically it was difficult and / or impossible for them to take part - and we understand that). \n \nWBCM '08 won't however be the first "DailyDOOH Distribution" of the year as we have our first network offer almost ready. It's a weekly distribution of high profile, TV and sport referenced content, applicable (pretty much) worldwide. \n \nThis is something that we think many screen networks will want to run and be able to schedule for several months going forward. It's going to be very exciting. \n \nWatch this space!!!\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:JADN.TV - Ce que vous devez savoir sur l’affichage dynamique
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/1213
DESCRIPTION:We are in Montréal, Québec on 8th April, 2008 for the 2nd JADN.TV conference, they can describe the event better than us so in their words... \n \nJADN.TV is a one-of-a-kind forum bringing together industry experts from Canada, the United States and Europe to share their knowledge and deliver advice based on their personal experience in the industry. The breadth of the conference and the quality and relevance of the topics broached is guaranteed to give you a unique take on this growing worldwide industry. \n \nWe were ABSOLUTELY delighted to be invited and are looking forward to meeting lots of new people whilst we are there. We will of course be popping into the offices of Neo Advertising Inc. to meet with Benjamin Mathieu their CEO in Canada - someone who we have heard a lot about but never actually met in person. \n \nI have two speaking slots on the day, the first is a 90 minute slot that I will be sharing with Bill Gerba and David Haynes (the three bloggers or the three tenors)... \n \nCONFERENCE 3 \n10:30 a.m to 12:00 p.m. \n \n2008 major trends on the international scene: the vision of 3 influential industry bloggers \n \nEurope (Adrian Cotterill / WeAreON), \nUSA (Bill Gerba / Wirespring Technologies) and \nCanada (Dave Haynes / Broadsign) \n \nEach of us will have 25 minutes and then there will be a 15 minute Q+A \n \nI will be covering initially the status of the market in Europe, statistics, trends and throwing in a few examples of some of the more interesting projects that we saw in 2007. I will also try cover to some information about retail, advertising revenues and the usual "what people need to know/watch in 2008" \n \nIn a second session I will be choosing one particular network with which to run through in detail a (true) European Case Study. \n \nHave to say that we are all quite excited about this trip and the event itself of course - we haven't ventured to the North American continent since we worked for Bertelsmann and ended up being in New York very single month. \n \nThe event is being organised by Denys Lavigne at Arsenal média inc. \n \n\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

DESCRIPTION:POPAIdigital and MediaZest will both be exhibiting at the UK's Instore Show on 20th to 22nd May 2008 at Earls Court 2, London. \n \nAlthough the event did seem to be a bit smaller in 2007 than it did in 2006 (we reckon the organisers sneakily moved the back wall in by 6ft) it is a show that we most DEFINITELY enjoyed these past two years. \n \nJason Cremins tells us (see comment below also) that there will be a dedicated 'Digital Media in Retail' zone at this years Instore Show sponsored by POPAI. \n \nTwo years ago MediaZest and 3M made a big, big splash with a f***-off stand which was just awesome. \n \nGeoff Robertson, Chief Executive Officer of MediaZest told us "The 2006 stand really introduced our offering and us as an innovator to the market, and although we didn't exhibit last year, we did attend. We'll be exhibiting this year and again looking to do something special and eye catching to grab retailer's attention" \n \nIf you are in retail then the show is well worth a visit.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

SUMMARY:Digital Media in Retail - Past, Present And Future
URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/1412
DESCRIPTION:When you start a sentence along the lines of "I don't mean to be rude but..." you just know in fact that you are, going to be rude!! And so it is with this latest UK POPAI event coming up on 23rd April 2008 in London. \n \nFirst, let us say that it is going to be well worth attending the event, just to have the (rare, especially in the UK) opportunity to hear Neo Advertising speak (we understand in fact that Dirk Huelsermann - an excellent speaker will be representing them). The event will be worth the entrance fee for that alone - trust us!! \n \nDirk who in his capacity as Direktor Business Development International at Neo Advertising told us today that in his presentation he plans to cover; \n \n	A pan-European perspective \n \n	Understanding how Edeka (Germany's #1 retailer) use their in-store screens to generate advertising revenue \n \n	The future of advertising on screens in store - what does the business model of tomorrow look like? \n \n \nWhilst we understand what POPAI are trying to do with a theme; 'past, present and future' we have to ask the question; does the audience really need to listen to yet another presentation from Dunnhumby about Tesco Screens? \n \nHaven't Dunnhumby / Tesco Screens got something else to do, errr like formally announce the winner of their Content RFP? This was due 13th February 2008 !! \n \nThere are lots of other really interesting retail case studies that can be done, to continually re-visit Dunnhumby / Tesco is we feel lazy and not very innovative. \n \nWe haven't come across the middle speaker at all in the UK - MaxBox Digital Retail Ltd., on their web site they describe themselves as "an aggregator and software developer of digital based leisure, entertainment and retail content which is vended over its estate of MaxBox kiosks". \n \nThey seem to have been tee'ed up for the 'present' slot if you like - again, having not heard of them we can't comment fully but if you wanted to find innovative uses of retail Kiosks then there are several to choose from in the UK - we quite like the Avanti Screen Media kiosks in Marks and Spencer, VMG's Infopods in shopping malls and various other people's installations in HMV, 3 etc - in fact the 3 Telecom /mobile phone store is an often over looked 'gem' of an installation that should be quoted and held up as a model retail installation a lot more than it is / has been! \n \nAnyway, the full POPAI event details are as below... \n \nWednesday 23 April 2008 from 9:30am to 03:30pm \n \nInstitute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), 44 Belgrave Square, London, SW1X 8QS. \n \nPOPAI is pleased to announce this annual event which continues to appeal to professionals from a broad cross section of the digital media in retail industry. \n \nThe event takes a retrospective look at how digital media in retail has developed since the inaugural POPAIdigital meeting in 2002 as well as taking a peak at what's in store for the industry over the coming years. \n \nWith a high profile set of speakers, attendees can look forward to some topical presentations with ample opportunity to network with industry peers. Speakers confirmed to date include: \n \nDunnhumby \n \nThe presentation is called, 'Tesco Screens - A Creative Future' and will cover: \n \n* Background: Identifying the need to be creative in-store and engage our audience \n \n* Understanding the process for selecting a creative partner \n \n* Planning for tomorrow: What will the future hold? \n \nMaxBox Digital Retail \n \n'Digital Retail...a solution to retail slowdown?' will include: \n \n* The evolution of the digital retail kiosk \n \n* Where is digital retail now and what is its place in the retail environment? \n \n* Where to next with digital retail – future growth opportunities? \n \nNeo Advertising will also be presenting - more details about this session will follow shortly. \n \nMembers: £75.00 | NON-Members: £150.00 \n \nFor more information and to book, contact the POPAI office - \ninfo@popai.co.uk or tel. 01455 554848.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

DESCRIPTION:For those of you in the UK, don't forget next week's informal breakfast meeting being held at The Private Screening Room, The Hospital, 24 Endell Street, London, WC2 9HQ. \n \nThese have been incredibly well attended in the past (iro 65 - 85 persons) and are a great way to network and they usually have great speakers too. This time around the focus is on audience measurement and Richard Windle, Nick Mottershead, Helen Harrison and Olivier Duizabo will be speaking. We know all of them personally and you won't get a better line up of speakers on this subject area in one place at the same time!! \n \nWith the digital signage industry moving into the advertising mainstream, the subject of Audience Measurement now needs to be addressed. Every established media format has its own measurement tools - by which the advertising industry judges its relative value. No recognised system for digital signage has yet evolved. \n \nThe Screen Network Owner's Forum meeting on Friday 11th April will be an informal breakfast meeting with brief presentations by market specialists and an opportunity to network and discuss the issues raised. \n \nAgenda: \n \n \n	The research company perspective - given by Richard Windle, Managing Director of specialist research company IPSOS MORI's Media Division. \n \n	The media network perspective - given by Nick Mottershead, Director of Match Day Media & Helen Harrison of Helen Harrison & Company. \n \n	The supply side perspective - given by; Olivier Duizabo, Managing Director of audience measurement specialist QuiVidi \n \n \nPlus updates from the world of The Screen and AKA.TV \n \nDate and Time: Friday 11th April 2008, 9:00am to 11:00am \n \nVenue: The Private Screening Room, The Hospital, 24 Endell Street, London, WC2 9HQ \n \nCosts: (includes breakfast) \nScreen Members: FREE \nNon-Members: 45 plus VAT = 52.88 \n \nPayment: Any one of the following: \nCredit card simply or cheque to The Screen Forum Ltd, 20 EastCastle Street, London, W1W 8DB \n \nNote: There are limited places for this breakfast briefing so register your interest early \nTo register please email info@thescreen.org.uk. \n \nJames Henry \nwww.thescreen.org \n \n\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

DESCRIPTION:The dates have been out for ISE 2009, Amsterdam RAI, NL for a while but we forgot to add them to our Events Calendar or mention it to you... \n \nWelcome to ISE 2009 \n \nEurope’s No.1 event for the professional AV and electronic systems industry will return to the Amsterdam RAI Centre on 3–5 February 2009. \n \nThe 2008 show drew more than 22,000 attendees and 484 exhibiting companies, showcasing the very latest technologies for commercial and residential systems integration. \n \n \n \nThe 2009 web site is not up yet, http://www.iseurope.org/2008/ says at the moment "Keep checking back for more information on the 2009 show as it becomes available. If you are interested in exhibiting, please get in touch with your local contact." \n \nRemember that Screen Expo 2009 has moved back next year in the Calendar which gives ISE more of a free reign. It will be interesting to see how that affects the two affects - we think a win / win for both.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

DESCRIPTION:We see that the Strategy Institute is holding its "2nd Annual Brand Activation Summit using Digital Out-of-home Media" in New York City on September 9th and 10th, 2008. \n \nThe target audience for this conference seems to be: - \n \n \n	Senior Executives from National Consumer Brands \n \n	Media Agency Executives \n \n	Digital Advertising Vehicles \n \n \nThe Strategy Institute tell us that the conference has been developed and engineered solely from the perspective of a brand owner AND that every session will be designed to give marketers and advertisers new ways of making relevant, targeted, emotional connections with customers. \n \nIf that's the case then it should be good, bearing in mind that these events, although they purport to be worldwide err like the World Series ;) when they are in fact pretty much US centric. \n \nThe Strategy Institute has a very good track record of credible conferences, we will keep our eye on this one as it develops and keep you informed of speakers etc.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

DESCRIPTION:Last year Manchester, this year Melbourne. These events and their associated web sites seem to be getting bigger, better organised and higher profile. \n \nThe event is described as... \n \nUrban Screens Melbourne 08 is the third, ground-breaking international conference and multimedia exhibition in a series of worldwide Urban Screens events. It will mark the official launch of the International Urban Screens Association and will take place 3rd-8th October at Federation Square, Melbourne. \n \nThe event promotes moving images in urban spaces and the impact on public culture. Keynote lectures, panel sessions, workshops, curated screenings and multimedia projects is designed to bring together leading Australian and international artists and curators, architects and urban planners, screen operators and content providers, technology manufacturers, software designers and public intellectuals. \n \nManchester was a good event, if a little 'arty-farty' and there is no reason to believe that this event won't be just as good - the web site etc. all looks a bit more polished now as well.\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com

URL;VALUE=URI:http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/2160
DESCRIPTION:Wow, well we have to say that we were most impressed and literally blown away by InfoComm 08 in Las Vegas last week. Whilst we are still trying to get over the jet lag we will definitely be booking our tickets to Florida for next year's event... \n \n \n2009 Orlando, Florida \nConference: June 13-19 \nExhibition: June 17-19 (Wed. - Fri.) \n \nThose digital signage vendors who are less-enterprise led than others will have done really well at this show and it was great to see so many of the big guys in attendance. \n \nInteresting to see the press release below... \n \nInfoComm 08 Largest Pro AV Tradeshow in History \n \nIndustry Growth Fuels Growth in Exhibitors, Education Enrollees, and More \n \nLAS VEGAS, Nev. – June 20, 2008 -- InfoComm International® today released preliminary figures showing record participation at InfoComm 08, the largest annual conference and exhibition for audiovisual buyers and sellers worldwide, in Las Vegas, June 18-20, 2008. \n \nReflecting strong demand for AV communications technologies in business, education and government as well as the retail, healthcare, entertainment, worship markets, attendance at the exhibition so far has topped 34,600. AV professionals from 93 countries attended to see the latest technologies in display, projection, audio, collaborative conferencing, control and networking applications. This reflects a 9.5 percent increase over last year’s record attendance. \n \nA record 988 exhibitors participated at InfoComm this year, representing more than a 15 percent increase over the previous record of 855 in 2007. Exhibitors occupied more than 500,000 net square feet of exhibit and special events space, compared to 465,000 net square feet in 2007. There are 231 new exhibitors at this year's show. \n \n"InfoComm 08 reflects the fast pace of innovations and growth in the AV communications industry," said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., InfoComm International Executive Director. "We introduced new courses and exhibitors this year to address the demand for digital signage, audio, and telepresence technology, as well as high definition products, lighting and staging and more. The NSCA Expo also was incorporated into our show for the first time, and we were pleased to debut the Electronic Systems Pavilion, along with the rest of the Expo’s traditional activities.” \n \nInfoComm is attended by AV dealers, independent reps, design consultants, systems integrators, rental and staging companies, and AV buyers from business, government, education, healthcare, retail, entertainment and the worship market. Approximately 70 percent of the attendees are commercially involved in the industry, with the remaining 30 percent comprising specifiers, buyers and end users. \n \nWhilst both DS Expo and Screen Expo definitely have a place to play in this exhibition space we do think that signage will become more mainstream and be an integral part of the much larger events like this (DS Expo and Screen Expo count 2,000 - 3,000 visitors whereas Infocomm boasted that amazing figure of 34,600)\n\nBrought to you by http://www.dailydooh.com
