Mindshare Nick Emery Fired For Dropping Pants on Zoom

Last week we tweeted that Mindshare CEO Nick Emery was sacked. The bosses at GroupM, part of WPP, said that he had left after a breach of company policy. Interim CEO Christian Juhl was quoting as saying “Inappropriate and offensive behaviour is not tolerated”.

Today, however this news made the UK newspaper The Sun, heaping a fair amount of ridicule on WPP and its senior management.

The Sun’s take was that a GLOBAL advertising boss has been sacked for taking a webcam into the toilet during a Zoom call and reported that “Nick Emery headed for the loo in the middle of a lengthy meeting where it is claimed he showed his behind as a prank”.

A witness told The Sun that the Mindshare CEO Nick Emery “filmed himself with his bottom out while having a wee” and “at least one person at the meeting notified Mindshare owner WPP“.

Others said he “didn’t bare anything”, “Nick clearly didn’t think this through”, “It was a spontaneous prank gone horribly wrong” whereas “Other top Mindshare bods on the call got offended and made immediate complaints to WPP top brass”.

Nick who was with the firm from its 1997 launch, declined to comment but one friend (of his) told The sun that his dismissal “a massive overreaction”.

People we spoke to said that WPP wanted high earner Nick out of the picture, one describing him as “too male, too white, too old and that WPP were looking for an excuse to get rid of him”.
