Hold That Front Stage! Live Events Are Back

Tristan Cotterill

Hold that front stage! This week will see the first in-person AV and Digital Signage events in Europe for some 458 days* and yet another live AdTECH conference (the last was AdTECH: OOH – Sydney in September, 2020)  – all thanks to event organisers the Ministry of New Media.

London Digital Signage Week will kick off Monday with in-person events from Clevertouch Technologies at their new showroom in London in the morning and Beaver Trison and Samsung at #SamsungKX in the afternoon.

Now in its seventh year, the week, based loosely on the London / New York Fashion Week concept, aims to help drive the industry forward and encourages as many people as possible to organise their own, or at the very least sponsor an event (after all, events in your own showroom are going to be so much cheaper than at a trade show).

Whilst our industry associations have misread the industry, tried to ignore the pandemic and continually over-promised and under-delivered what the industry needs most – yes, ladies and gentlemen, ‘live events’ – here we see that with proper due diligence, an eye for detail and careful planning, it is possible to get back out in the world, meet and network with people and do business as it should be done, i.e. face to face.

Ministry of New Media Co-Founder, Russ Curry told us “We would like to thank the week’s sponsors; Samsung, Clevertouch Technologies, Intel, Advantech and SNA Displays and the key event organisers; Beaver Trison, GRIDSERVE, Midwich, PSCo, Pixel Inspiration, POPAI, Quividi and the World Out of Home Organisation – all of whom have believed in our vision and trusted us with their brands”.

As the team at DailyDOOH Towers will be busy each day this week normal editorial operations will mostly be suspended and we’ll mainly turn the website over to news on what will be happening each day and the next. For those of you who can’t attend any of the week’s events in-person, a digital edition of them will be live streamed (and released for on-demand viewing a week later) and so we will be using each day’s DailyDOOH email newsletter to let readers where they can find the relevant live streams.

For those of you in geographies that are perhaps not 100% interested in the events in London this week then please bear with us and normal operations will be resumed a week Monday.

* Last event was #ISE2020 which ended Friday, 14 February 2020
