JCDecaux Purchases Titan Assets

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

After the Titan Outdoor Advertising Ltd. business went into administration early on Monday morning it was announced much later in the day that JCDecaux UK had purchased certain Titan Outdoor assets.

Assets purchased definitely seem to include the retail and rail advertising side of the business – i.e. the Transvision and Digital 6-sheets in shopping malls and railway stations.

Jeremy Male, CEO JCDecaux UK and Northern Europe told “We look forward to the opportunity of adding the Titan assets to our portfolio of business in the UK. There is a great potential fit with our existing roadside and airport advertising business and with strong positions in retail and rail advertising it is well placed for growth. There are great synergies between the two businesses that will enable us to maximise revenues for our advertising partners in the future.”

Primesight of course acquired Titan’s UK roadside business back in August 2009

JCDecaux won’t want to change things immediately (they do however have a habit of wanting to do things their own way) and it will be interesting to see whether the asset acqusitio is a good or a bad thing for some of the current digital suppliers to Titan; Dynamax of course supply the CMS digital signage software and iBlink (and indeed GDS) supply and manage the rather nice digital 6-sheets.

Media Week reported that “The 100 staff at Titan’s London office and JCDecaux’s 600 UK staff were informed of the takeover at 5pm today … Advertising deals that have already been booked through Titan will be honoured”
