Trust Him, He’s a Doctor?

This has nothing to do with the Brighton where Mods and Rockers [1] fought but the other one [2] in Canada somewhere…

[3]

An honorary degree or a degree honoris causa (Latin: ‘for the sake of the honour’) is an academic degree for which a university (or other degree-awarding institution) has waived the usual requirements (such as matriculation, residence, study and the passing of examinations).

The key perhaps to this non-announcement is the ‘degree-awarding institution’ bit which we doubt very much whether DSEG [4] or any other self-proclaimed ‘experts group’ actually is.

We are not sure who is more daft, those awarding it or those accepting it although the answer probably lies somewhere in-between.

Mr Bunn (the Baker) and Mr Brawn (the butcher)? Remember that classic card game from your childhood?

I find it rather amusing that your time at secondary school can shape your new career 27 years later. Clearly none of the intervening experience was as powerful a tool as learning about Latin conjugation and oxbow lakes…

I’m assuming this was a local newspaper journalist? 🙂
