Mood Media Breaks Into TV Advertising

Mood Media Corporation (TSX:MM/ LSE AIM:MM) has won a contract to produce television adverts for the UK’s number 1 sports retailer, Sportsdirect.com [1] for 2011.

The TV adverts will air throughout the year and will represent the retailer’s biggest entry in to the TV advertising market to date. The style of the adverts is designed to be bold and punchy in line with the Sportdirect.com brand image and will be created by Mood Media’s creative team.

Vincent Smith, Head of Marketing at Sportsdirect.com, said: “We were impressed by the proposition that Mood Media brought to the table. Their unique understanding of the retail space encouraged our decision to choose them to create our new series of television adverts and we are delighted with the results.”

Lorne Abony, CEO and Chairman of Mood Media Corporation said: “It is with great excitement that Mood Media is embarking on the world of television advertising. We are thrilled to be working with Sportsdirect.com to create this series of eye-catching new adverts. The quality of our in-store graphics is so high that it’s a natural extension of our service to offer our clients a higher value product for TV. This is profitable business for Mood Media and we will be working with more clients in the future on both in-store media and TV advertising.”

Let’s hope their reappraisal of the TV campaign for sportsdirect.com pushes the creative treatment on given that to date their “TV advertising” has not been much more than basic digital signage:

Dear Mr Magoo

Please don’t expect too much from a background music company dressing themselves up as an agency. This is the same company that also sells those rank panpipe/world CDs at garden centres and tries to get retailers to swap good music programming to their non-signed artists to avoid paying licensing

Thanks DM Ex. Oddly, I too am a DM Ex (in the UK)

Perhaps we should start some sort of alumni?

It’s no wonder there are so many ex-staff when Mood’s recruitment process is currently driven by such vacancies as this one where they offer no salary:

I’d like to say the competition is much better but we all know the reputation of the likes of ImageSound and PlayNetwork so it’s better to be out of this industry and working for a company I trust, enjoy and respect.
