One of the slightly surreal moments of the London Stock Exhange launch day was watching the live CNBC broadcast of the interview with the Chancellor in front of the MicroTiles Mosaic screen [1] ACTUALLY being shown on the Mosaic screen 45 minutes after the event proper!!

We’ve also been asked more geek questions about the install itself (don’t worry that excites us as well) and folks have been wanting to know the numbers.
Briefly then: –
- 508 Microtiles installed
- 197 Mega pixels of total possible MicroTile canvas
- 42 Mega pixels of total player output canvas actually displayed
- Nine Scala media players
- Six Vista Spyders
- 2.7km of optical fibre cabling to feed the 34 ECUs from the equiment rack
- Over 600m of Display Port cabling for the MicroTile displays
- 5 tonnes of steel support structure
