#InfoComm11 ClearOne Impress

Austin, Texas-based ClearOne is one of several A/V distributors moving into the digital signage sector – a growing trend we noticed at the show last week – and Tim Mackie, field sale engineer for ClearOne’s southern region, wanted to show us the company’s new Impress IM100.

“Our new Impress IM100 is our own player, with four zones of content,” says Mackie. “We take the digital signage player and connect it with our encoder MLAV9500 and then can send to any monitor. We can support hundreds of decoders and displays – with security on the screens.”

The company also showed a new decoder, the VL9300, for use between the mount and the display.

“Everything is via the Ethernet – video, audio and control over IP – and can be controlled from the computer or the iPhone,” says Mackie. “We’re targeting corporate venues, network operations centres, casinos, stadiums, sports bars, hotels and the educational sector.”

Costs at the retail end would be about $6,000 for Impress; $3,000 for an encoder; $1,800 for each decoder. (You need only one player and one encoder, and then a decoder for each display.)
