WRT Closes Its New National Media Division

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

Last week Julian Clogg and the other four members of his team were made redundant, although Julian tells us that he plans to stay with the business until Christmas.

Julian was only poached a couple of months ago from The Life Channel to set up a new national media division within the WRT Group. There will be many a disgruntled new starter as three of the four national media staff were happily employed with other companies prior to being poached in a similar fashion to Julian.

Despite rumours, Sainsbury’s we are told still remains a client.

WRT was acquired by Mathew Longworth and Kevin Philbin two years ago, having ousted the founder Lee Townsend.

That’s a real shame. Julian’s a first class guy, perhaps too good for the likes of WRT.

If there are any media owners out there (ZOOM, AMSCREEN, SUBTV, ABC Media etc) who need a seasoned, connected and respected media professional to present their business to agencies and brands then I’d get in contact with him ASAP, he shouldn’t be on the marketfor long.

  2. Julian Clogg Says:

Thank you Chris I really appreciate your kind words of support.

Adrian (originally) actually has this completely wrong as we have entered into a redundancy process last week and although WRT has financial challenges like many other businesses the report is inaccurate. I also plan to stay with the business until Christmas and Sainsbury’s remains a client who has successfully worked with the group for over 15 years.

  3. Robert Lewis Says:

Can’t claim a huge knowledge about WRT, but when I recently called to get some information on their Wickes opportunities, it took 3 days or more to get an initial response. And then 2 sales people contacted me separately! If that is typical, then not surprised things are not going too well there.

  4. Paul Vitali Says:

Julian must be one of the best in the industry. Whatever he decides to do, all at VII-Networks.com wish him the very best for the future – he’d be a welcome addition to any media business.

  5. LeeTownsend Says:

Despite the rumours, I was not “ousted” and whilst Matt and Kevin have some challenges ahead I still fully support them and regard them both as friends.
