Xamarin Gets $12 Million For Mobile App Developers’ Toolbox

Xamarin, a San Francisco-based developer of mobile app development software to help users create iOS, Android and Windows apps, has raised $12 million in a first round of funding.

Charles River Ventures, Floodgate and Ignition Partners participated in the round, which the company will use to expand its group of mobile developer tools, and to build a sales and marketing team.

Founded by Nat Friedman and Miguel de Icaza, veteran software entrepreneurs, less than a year ago, Xamarin has already been used by more than 150,000 developers and has more than 7,500 paying customers.

Company management says that Xamarin is getting more than 12,000 new developers per month and millions of dollars in revenue,
