If you are going to put screens behind a bar they may as well be big ones and here we see the new Marriott Hotel at Twickenham, this is the one where parts of it face out onto the Twickenham Rugby Football Union (RFU) stadium, with two x 82” Samsung Full HD LCD screens side by side in the Sports Bar, installed by Rockport Presentations Ltd.

Marriott PSCo installationPaul Davies, General Manager of Marriott Twickenham told us “The AV installation is part of creating a flagship destination for both leisure and business travellers. The screens are designed to constantly display both sport and news to suit the two types of audience, however for large sporting occasions we are able to display two matches simultaneously on the screens. They are getting great reviews from guests, for both the size and picture quality.”

The screens are fed by a series of SKY decoders, which are routed in to a Dexon Video Wall Processor to enable either single or multiple images to be simultaneously displayed. The system is operated by a Crestron controller and 8” Touch Panel.

Jerry Broda, Technical Director of Rockport explained “We were approached by the RFU’s appointed Project Management team, to look at installing a pair of large screen displays that would display full HD content within the hotel’s Sports Bar. We worked with the clients representative to employ the latest videowall display technology with the accompanying audio being fed into the hotel’s PA system to create a stunning AV solution.”

Rockport worked with Samsung’s advanced product specialists PSCo to install the screens. Ed Martin, Technical Manager at PSCo produced a specialist installation device to make the installation possible, working within a floor space of less than a metre and recessing the screens into a wall.
