Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

STRATACACHE is sponsoring and initiating a new industry award to promote application development around Bluetooth, NFC, SMS, MMS, QR Code or similar technologies that enable interactivity between digital signs and mobile, hand-held devices.

**Pour le mérite

It is of course widely accepted that consumer and end-user interactivity is one of, if not the top driver of future success in the digital out of home industry (DOOH) – not only is it measurable, it is also engaging and often stimulating.

Chris Riegel, STRATACACHE CEO told us “We conceived the BlueMaxx Award with the notion that development and entrepreneurship in this cutting-edge field needed an identifying platform for interactive, digital signage excellence,”

He continued “The BlueMaxx will provide a unique channel for annual recognition of the development leaders with proven use cases.”

Deadline for submissions is 14th September 2010. Winners will be announced at Customer Engagement Technology World (the event formerly known as both KioskCom and The Digital Signage Show) being held at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center, New York, NY November 10-11, 2010 and will receive industry-wide recognition, an award for display, and an honorarium.

Key criteria for the award include:-

  1. Interactivity must directly relate to a digital signage application or media interface and leverage Bluetooth or similar technologies for interaction with mobile handsets.
  2. A deserving candidate is an organization with a digital signage project and mobile handset application that is positively affecting the customer experience, sales, human resources, training and development, and/or providing a service to consumers, constituents, etc.
  3. A deserving candidate may also be using the technology to measure the effectiveness of the interaction with the consumer/end user.
