#InfoComm11 Cool Little Signs

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

Gerry Smart, worldwide director of market development at Eastman Kodak and Raffi Vartian, director of business development at Haivision will be among the many speakers at InfoComm this year.

Smart and Vartian will be speaking on one-to-one communications and how inexpensive ‘Cool Little Signs’ are revolutionizing digital signage.

Vartian says, “When most people think about digital signs, they think of large format panels that run information or advertising to ‘talk’ to many people at once. Kodak and Haivision have a different approach: use small, inexpensive, mobile wi-fi-enabled screens to communicate targeted messages to individuals. For less than $400 and powered by one standard plug, your customers won’t be looking for reasons not to install digital signage. Rather, they’ll be looking for applications for ‘Cool Little Signs’.

The speakers will talk about the products, the applications that your customers are asking for and the simplicity of the solution.

See them on the Presentation Stage, booth 4989, in Hall C on Wednesday, June 15, at 10 a.m.

  1. Jason Cremins Says:

$400 seems expensive with the IAdea XDS-104 10″ SMIL based unit coming in considerably cheaper.

  2. Raffi Vartian Says:

$400 includes the CoolSign license Jason.

And our enterprise customers know the Kodak brand.

Stop by and take a look!

  3. Giuseppe Andrianò Says:

    I agree with Jason.

Also the Airpop display (http://www.air-pop.com ) is under 400$ but offer also full interactive touch and many intriguing features like touch logging and free CMS… and is not PC based.

A light future for the smallsignage more close to products (proximity), more efficent (economic and power saving) and able to serve more customers at the same price of a large screen.

  4. Raffi Vartian Says:

    Jason/Giuseppe,

In mass applications such as retail, banking, hotels, etc. customers are looking at network sizes of 5,000 or 10,000+ deployments. In those volumes you need both impeccable manufacturing and screen quality (Kodak) and robust back end technology to manage the content and health of the screens (Haivision’s CoolSign signage software). I put our solution against anyone.

Regardless, at unit volumes that I mentioned above, you will see dramatic price breaks.

Come by Wednesday morning, I’d love to answer your questions.

    Cheers,

    Raffi
