Nice Nestlé HQ mediaWall

Defocus films, based near Paris, France, have created this really nice Nescafé coffee bar mediaWall for the Nestlé head office in Vevey, Switzerland…

It’s a multimedia wall aimed to show films and products of the brand, using synchronised playout across the screens. Although the screens aren’t designed to form a single large canvas, the strategy here is to play the main content on the videowall section on the right, with supporting meta-data about the clip playing underneath, and related video content on the other screens between the physical products on display.

To enhance the overall effect, the product shelves have ambient lighting built in, and this is programmed to co-ordinate with the content being shown on screen.

From the user’s perspective, the system is iPad driven, with a carousel of content that can be selected to display on the media wall. Before a user selects a particular piece of content to view, an attractor loop is playing, and this includes social media feeds and relevant brand information and data derived from Salesforce.

Rather than use an off-the-shelf CMS solution, Defocus films built the custom content backend for this project in just three weeks, and used Mac mini computers as media players.

Whilst it boasts nine Samsung screens of varying sizes (46” and 40”) it’s not really a fully tiled display as such – there is a narrow bezel 2×3 videowall on the right, and three normal bezel screens arranged in the bookcase-style product shelves to the left.

If you wanted to treat it as a single canvas shape, it could be described as _5X3_3H2T_TH3T_HTH2T_
