BT Group’s digital and startup incubation hub, Etc. unveiled at #CES2024 a CES Honouree awarded #EV charging solution which converts existing street infrastructure to public charge points.

Etc. Managing Director Tom Guy was on hand at the show to explain that Etc. will be powering up the UK’s first charging unit built from a street cabinet, traditionally used to store broadband and mobile cabling. It will be located in Haddington, East Lothian.

This announcement marks the first step in the rollout of technical trials, exploring the potential to upgrade up to 60,000 cabinets to tackle the current national shortfall in EV charging infrastructure.
