Xenial Says It is Not Exiting The Digital Menu Board Business

We wrote yesterday that Xenial (owned by Global Payments) was exiting the digital menu board business. Not true says a spokesperson for Global Payments who told us “(it’s) completely untrue. We have actually been heavily investing in our platforms, especially over the past year during the pandemic, as more and more restaurants are shifting to drive thru and online ordering vs. in person dining. You can see the breadth of our drive-thru offerings on our website.

This goes against what we’ve heard from a couple of sources where, earlier in the month, they were allegedly briefing current customers about their exit from this line of business.

Global Payments acquired SICOM back in 2018 for a whopping USD 415 Million as part of a planned rollup of QSR focused Point of Sale, Digital Signage and Kiosk businesses by Global Payments but since then has seen some big customer defections as well, of course  as significant pressure on the Restaurant and Hospitality space due to #Covid19.

SICOM’s customers have included Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeye’s, CKE (Hardees/Carl’s Jr.) and others.
