If you remember back in very early January 2008, abc media wrote us a very nice ‘open’ letter which we duly published.

It made mention of a couple of projects that they had been working on - Wine Cellar was one network AND with 180 stores it makes quite a nice UK network and Martin McColls - a network that hadn’t yet been launched.

The Martin McColls’ network interests us as it is EPOS based, a trend you will remember that we think will be a lot more common in the retail space.

Late in January McColl’s announced that it was to “plough £19m into a new PoS system” - it’s largest IT project it had undertaken.

That network will be pretty big by anyone’s standard - 1,289 stores and will begin rolling out this summer.

abc media tell us that that they have ALREADY successfully managed commercial partnerships for Martin McColl with AOL and KwikFit Insurance - so nothing like pre-selling!
