Ocean Outdoor Appoints Interim CEO

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

Ocean Outdoor, which manages iconic giant format advertising sites across the UK and who has been doing, perhaps the best job at large format digital in London in recent months today announced that Andrew Oldham has been appointed CEO on an interim basis.

This appointment follows a decision by Damian Cox the founder of Ocean to step back from day to day operations – Damian of course founded Ocean back in 2004 and has grown the business to become a leader in high profile premium outdoor advertising.

Damian was instrumental in developing new spectacular landmark locations such as the ones recently developed at Westfield and the Two Towers at the Hammersmith Flyover.

We are told that Damian made the decision “to allow more time to pursue other business interests but will remain a significant shareholder and will continue to advise the company on its landmark developments”.

Andrew Oldham was until 2008, Chief Operating Officer at CBS Outdoor UK and prior to this, was Sales Director at Capital Radio plc. Andrew also recently advised LOCOG on the management of outdoor advertising for London 2012.

Ocean Outdoor is chaired by Tom Goddard the former Chief Executive of CBS Outdoor’s International division (and Digicom owner) who told us “Andrew has an excellent understanding of the outdoor media business and will bring a wealth of experience to the role. I would like to thank Damian sincerely who, along with his team, has created a leading position for Ocean in premium outdoor and has demonstrated an outstanding ability to identify and develop new iconic locations and we are delighted that he has agreed to continue to be involved in that area.”
