G8/G20 Experience Canada Pavilion

Christie Digital Systems was front and centre in the Experience Canada Pavilion during the recent 2010 G8/G20 World Summit in Toronto, with its High Definition projectors and innovative Christie MicroTiles providing compelling visuals to showcase Canada as a prime destination for business, investment and tourism.

The Experience Canada Pavilion, housed within the International Media Centre located in the Heritage Court of the Direct Energy Centre, was designed to promote Canada to the more than 3,000 international media covering the world event.

In collaboration with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) and Lord Cultural Resources of Toronto – which was selected to develop, design and implement the Canadian Pavilion – Christie brought cutting edge projectors to promote Canadian tourism and show 2010 FIFA World Cup matches in High Definition on 30’ and 16’ screens. A virtual football challenge, projected onto a 10’ screen, also attracted sports enthusiasts. The interactive videogame engaged delegates from the 2010 model G8 youth summit in Gravenhurst, Ontario in real-time football matches with media.

Christie’s MicroTiles modular display technology was a focal point at the Pavilion, presenting stunning visuals to showcase Canada as a modern and innovative country. With its simple building block design, 75 Christie MicroTiles, configured in 3 unique building shapes to create a Cityscape facade, displayed high res video to help media develop articles about Canada.

The Experience Canada Pavilion was organized into three distinct areas, each including informative displays, interactive experiences and locally inspired natural landscapes. Within these zones, there was also additional programming such as Canadian culinary food tastings, exhibitor displays and showing of the World Cup football matches.
