Official: Stewart Chen’s Kreatevee Departure

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

Following the news / rumour of Kreateevee’s appointment as a technology partner by the largest OOH company in Malaysia, Stewart Chen (CEO turned Director of Kreateevee Sdn Bhd) has officially announced his departure from the company effective 1st October 2010. After serving the company for more than 5 years and steering it to become one of the major digital signage players in the country including winning 2 consecutive Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific awards (2008 & 2009), he will now be concentrating on his new startup, Specular.tv which focuses on Mirror TV solutions.

Stewart told us “Mirror TV has been around, but its potential for digital signage has remained largely under-tapped. This is primarily due to the costs and comparatively little exposure of these products within our industry. By having an assembly plant in Asia, hence a lower price point, I strongly believe it can drive up the adoption of digital signage in retail or even the hospitality industry here. For those who do not fancy hanging screens in their retail stores can now hide it nicely behind their mirrors with optional interactivity”.

Since its early days, Kreateevee has been mostly involved in deploying digital signage networks for the banks and telcos in Malaysia. Having one of the biggest OOH company as their client definitely breaks the mold and is a good sign for the digital signage industry in the country.

Kreateevee will be responsible to deploy and manage the digital signage networks in their concessions that ranges from malls to transportation hubs. With Stewart’s departure from the company, his roles will be passed down to the current CEO, Edward Anthony and his immediate task is to make sure the third Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific award is within reach.
