Android Powered Mobile Vending Machine @sxsw

An interactive design group in Austin, TX known as Bohemian Innovation created an Android powered mobile vending machine for #sxsw which earned them almost 1 follower per minute for a 6 hour run.

The group of artists, engineers and designers were facing the challenge of getting their brand name buzzing during #SXSW and at the same time increasing their followers on twitter.

When the team decided that dispensing a branded keepsake in the form of ‘Bohemian Almanacs’ from a vending machine that was pulled by a pedicab was the way to go they had no idea of the type of response they would receive or that they would pick up 300 followers in just 6 hours during one day.

To enjoy the experience you have to follow Bohemian on twitter you are sent a direct message that contains a unique code.

On the company’s webpage there was a map that showed the location of the interactive twitter vending machine as it moved about and tweets with pictures of the locations of where the pedicab was parked let people know where to find the vending machine.

People could make their selection from one of the mini-books after they input their code in the vending machine and the Android OS verified the code’s authenticity.

Albert Swantner tells me that Bohemian Innovations is preparing something awesome for the Mobile Show in Dubai in April. The Mobile show is part of the Planet of The Apps which is the middle East’s largest show for mobile technology and applications.

Even though #sxsw is over you can still get your digital booklet in the mail if you follow @Bohemianllc and use the code they DM you to enter it on an html5 version of the digital version of the vending machine.
