Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp. Chooses Green Energy For Digital Signage Network

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), Toronto, has announced that its digital signage network, including 1,200 digital signs at all 19 OLG gaming sites and four OLG corporate offices, is now powered with 100% clean, pollution-free electricity provided by Bullfrog Power.

Bullfrog Power will inject 1,297,032 kilowatt-hours of low impact renewable (green) electricity onto the Ontario electricity grid to match the amount of power OLG’s digital signage network uses. This will reduce the emission of approximately 520 tonnes of carbon dioxide – equivalent to removing approximately 109 passenger cars from the road.

“Choosing green energy complements OLG’s ongoing commitment to reduce our environmental impact across the organization,” says Paul Pellizzari, OLG’s executive director of policy and social responsibility. “Renewable energy is an important part of our Bet on Green efforts to become a leader in energy-efficient, environmentally lower-impact gaming.”

“Our digital signage network is already made up of EnergyStar certified LED screens and hardware,” says Michael Tutton, OLG’s manager of digital signage. “This switch to green energy continues our efforts in utilizing low environmental impact technologies.”

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. For OLG’s digital signage network of approximately 1,200 screens. More than 1,000 animations are created each year by two internal animators. The software used, Audience.tv, is provided by Capital Networks in Markham, Ontario. .
