Powering Advertising’s Growth Beyond #Brexit

Russ Curry, Ministry of New Media

The best and brightest from across UK advertising will gather together at King’s Place in London on 25 January for LEAD – advertising industry’s annual summit, hosted by the Advertising Association.

The Association will welcome a line-up of industry figures, politicians and business leaders including Labour MP for Streatham and former Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Chuka Umunna; Conservative Mayor of the West Midlands and former MD of John Lewis Plc, Andy Street; former Joint Head of the UK’s Government Economic Service Vicky Pryce; and Northern Europe Marketing Director at Procter & Gamble, Stefan Feitoza, to discuss the key questions of the moment – Brexit and how to achieve growth in a post-Brexit world.

Secretary of State for International Trade Rt Hon Liam Fox MP will give an opening filmed message to delegates on the opportunities that exist for businesses in the advertising sector for growth beyond Brexit and how they can help power the industry to global export success.

Further speakers at LEAD include: Alan Erskine, Managing Director of Credit Suisse; Siobhan Kenny, CEO of RadioCentre; Alex Mahon, CEO of Channel 4; Nick Manning; Michelle McEttrick, Group Brand Director at Tesco; Keith Morgan, CEO of British Business Bank; Lindsay Pattison, WPP Chief Transformation Officer; Steve Richards, Political Columnist & Broadcaster; Manjiry Tamhane, Global CEO at Gain Theory; James Wildman, CEO of ‎Hearst UK.

Stephen Woodford, Chief Executive, Advertising Association, told us “Almost one million UK jobs are dependent on advertising and our industry generates six pounds for the economy for every pound spent on advertising, so it is the right time to discuss the opportunities and challenges for growth beyond Brexit. This year’s LEAD will be the perfect forum for the leaders of our industry to come together to debate and discuss the fundamental questions that face advertising over the coming months and years. I urge anyone interested in UK advertising’s post-Brexit future to join the debate at LEAD.”

Key questions to be debated at LEAD 2018 will include:

· How are leading companies looking at their strategy in light of Brexit, and what can businesses can do to make the most of the opportunity for growth across the UK?
· How can we continue to attract and develop the right talent to remain a truly global hub for advertising?
· Is advertising delivering adequately for the world’s biggest brands?
· How is the landscape changing and how do we need to adapt to respond?
· With 57% of UK advertising output coming from outside London, how can the regions drive fresh business and export success?
