Vertigo Digital Displays Gears Up to Show New Products At #dse2010

A highly-flexible integrated display unit specifically designed for the demands of the broad indoor digital signage market, and two new high-bright outdoor displays, will be part of a showcase by Vertigo Digital Displays next week at the DSE in Las Vegas.

Based in Toronto, Vertigo has more than 10,000 advertising displays installed around the world, with more than 1,000 of those using digital displays. Its clients include many of the biggest names in the outdoor ad sector, such as Titan Outdoor, CBS Outdoor, Clear Channel Outdoor, Lamar Advertising Company, Astral Media Outdoor and Pattison Outdoor Advertising.

Vertigo’s modular, integrated display unit is a self-contained 42” LCD-based solution that allows for easy configuration, servicing and component replacement, and protects against tampering and theft.

Contrary to most all-in-one units on the market, the Vertigo units have expansion slots that make field service and upgrades or replacements of PC and distribution hardware as simple as pulling one unit out, and snapping a different one in – a great savings in time and labour costs. The Vertigo units are also fully ruggedized for use in public areas, have optional protective glass for the screens, and keyed security covers for the electronic components.

Among several software and hardware vendors already looking to take advantage of Vertigo’s easy adaptability is IAdea, based in Taipei, Taiwan, with a North American support office in Montreal.

“The Vertigo modular integrated display is an ideal platform to combine with IAdea’s open-standard digital signage media players to deliver an affordable, highly reliable and easy-to-deploy turnkey digital signage network appliance,” says Rex Chen, executive vice-president of IAdea.

Vertigo will also be demonstrating a functional prototype of an IP65-rated outdoor display that has a 46” LCD capable of 1500-NITS brightness. Intended for retail, digital-out-of-home and mass transit customers, the product is an updated re-design of the successful 46” outdoor display being seen by millions this month on the platforms of Vancouver’s Skytrain system during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, on a network run by Lamar Advertising Company. The new versions of the display double brightness, and now support both portrait and landscape applications. The units are available beginning in April.

The Vertigo team will also be previewing a 46” super-bright 2200-NITS LED edge-lit display, manufactured by Chilin, that is being designed into Vertigo’s newest outdoor digital signs. Release is targeted for June 2010. These displays are direct sunlight-viewable and have all the weather-proofing and ruggedization common to Vertigo products.

“We have been previewing this product for the last few weeks in North America and Europe and have received tremendous interest and demand wherever we’ve gone,”
says Brad Gleeson, president and CEO of Vertigo Digital Displays. “We’ll soon be opening the product for customer ordering and allocation.”

Vertigo’s integrated unit will be among several Vertigo products on display at a demo suite Feb. 24-25 in the Las Vegas Hilton, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center. The demo and meeting suite is the latest stop this year on Vertigo’s outdoor digital signage technology tour, having completed very successful showcases in New York and at the recent ISE trade show in Amsterdam.
