Each year we pick out ten companies that we think you ought to keep your eye on. We don’t include the companies from the previous year – preferring instead to start afresh.

In 2009 watch out for these folks who we think will make a major impact on our industry (listed alphabetically below, i.e. in no particular order)…

    Whatever happened to Screenred? They made a big splash on your website a few months ago, and were on your top digital signage vendors, but you haven’t shared much since.

    ScreenRed were indeed number 6 in our list of top 10 digital signage vendors – http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/720 (a completely different list to these ‘ten companies to watch in 2009’ btw) and you are right they (ScreenRed) seem to have been very quiet recently despite a big advertising campaign with us earlier this year.

    Watch out for an updated top 10 DS vendors list in the new year!!!!

    These are all great companies, but what about captive audience digital networks? I believe these companies will be a driving force in “reverse” advertising — encouraging advertisers to run longer, more educational ads that present the problem and solution — to an audience with an average dwell time of 15 minutes. I’m not seeing many companies out there that do this.

    How on earth can you put Eye Corp on this list? They have done nothing but make empty promises to the market since arriving in the UK. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they still only have a few airport contracts.

    In our opinion EYE have been one the innovators with digital and experiential.

    Our list is global and not just UK – out of all the areas they have done poorly in you would be better to take them to task in the US as opposed to the UK. Their airport stuff is good and we like.

    Hi Adrian

    I was delighted to see your top ten list of companies pertaining to DOOH, however each time I see these lists their seems to be absolutely no reperentation from the DOOH mobile media sector.

    Granted I represent a mobile DOOH media company and we have excelled in our growth expansion with offices in Durham, London, Belfast, Dublin, Frankfurt and now Dubai in less than 2 years, surely we are testimony to a mention on behalf of mobile DOOH media.

    We are true embassadors for the Poster v Digital debate with many campaigns on behalf of our agencies clients, Disney, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, Highways Agency, Channel 4 and many more all preferring to excecute mobile DOOH above the more conventioanl media.

    We openly encourage our clients to measure our effectiveness and accountibility with our inique geneder recognition and audience measurement software, once again flying the flag on behalf of Digital.

    I just think that it is about time that the mobile DOOH media owners got some recognition for their efforts towards making digital advertising come alive.

    How can signage networks target young drivers aged 17-24 year old regarding Road safety, which is a brief handed to us recently from Kent & Medway Safety Camera partnership, the networks could not reach that audience, they are untouchable!

    We placed the SA Digivans at locations such as B&Q, and Mcdoanld carparks targeting them with infomercials right at the heart of their own territory, which had striking results.

    I am astonished that the poster v Digital media debate is still current affairs, when asked this question over 4 years ago my response was simple: ‘trying to ignore the true magnitude of how digital media will takeover poster media and conventioanl media is like trying to ignore that the DVD would not replace the VHS tape…

    I applaud all media, even convenetioanl however we should worship Digital for it can achieve and has yet still to achieve within DOOH.

    OVAB is not a company selling goods or services. Although it definitely deserves due credit and recognition.

    The Out-of-home Video Advertising Bureau (OVAB) exists to create a forum for substantive, ongoing collaboration between advertisers, agencies, out-of-home video networks and their suppliers to drive consistent growth for the industry.
