We previously reported that Screen Media India is happening 20th March 2008 in Mumbai – it’s just been confirmed that the title sponsors are BroadSign International and VJive Networks.

London, UK, 14 January 2008 – Screen Events Ltd today announced the launch of Screen Media India – Mumbai 2008, a new conference focused on the fastest growing new media sector in the country since the Internet. The conference aims to bring together end users, government bodies, marketers, technology suppliers, entrepreneurs, financiers and content professionals from across from world under one roof to network, share experiences and explore the potential of this exciting new communications tool. BroadSign International and VJive Networks have been announced as Screen Media India title sponsors.

“We have already set foot in India, which is a very promising market for digital out-of-home advertising, and we are expanding our presence here. So it makes perfect sense for us to participate in the first digital signage conference in the region,” said Patrick (Rick) J. Engels, President and CEO, BroadSign International.

The advancement of India’s screen media market is primarily driven by the explosion of the country’s economy, which is growing at 8% per year. Organised retail in particular is forecasted to increase eightfold by 2010 to a $70bn sector. Other trends impacting the adoption of screen media is the fragmentation of traditional outdoor advertising and point-of-sale material, and an increase in technologically and culturally sophisticated consumers. The Indian market’s existing wealth of TV programming and its strong independent production sector will also encourage further development, as digital screens provide an additional opportunity to deliver content to new territories and audience profiles.

Commenting, Mark Pigou, Director, Screen Events, said, “The support commitment from BroadSign and VJive Networks demonstrates the importance of the maturing Indian screen media sector. Our annual Screen Expo Europe in London has established itself as the place to do business for both supplier and user communities. Now, Screens Mumbai 2008 offers a chance to do the same in Asia.”
