Bannister Lake Software Inc., Cambridge, Ontario-provider of professional video graphic display solutions for broadcast television, cable, satellite, digital signage and audio visual applications worldwide, appointed Pete Challinger as head of U.S. business development.

The appointment is part of a goal to dramatically increase U.S. business for the company.

Challinger’s career, based in California, spans 30 years with some well-known names in the broadcast industry. With executive roles at Grass Valley Group and Abekas Video Systems, he was involved in new product and market development. After Abekas, he became the founding vice-president marketing at Spruce Technologies, a startup that pioneered DVD Authoring in the early days of DVD. In 1999, he returned to his own consulting and distribution business, launching Quartz Electronics (later acquired by Evertz) in the U.S. For the last six years, he was CEO of Pixel Power Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the UK graphics company.

“I think there are great opportunities to replicate the success that Bannister Lake has had in Canada across the U.S. market,” says Challinger. “Having spoken with some of its customers, it is clear that its level of support and customer service is exemplary.”

In addition to Challinger’s appointment, Bannister Lake has also expanded its global operations with the opening of a new U.S. office, based in California.

Georg Hentsch, president of Bannister Lake Software, says, “We’ve been selling solutions throughout the United States and supporting our American customers for years, but our new U.S. office marks a significant corporate Bannister Lake milestone worth acknowledging.”
