The Texas Rangers, Major League Baseball Club, has asked Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and install a new LED video display that will be installed at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, in the coming months.

“We owe Texas Rangers fans nothing but the best fan experience when they visit Globe Life Park in Arlington,” says Chuck Morgan, Texas Rangers executive vice-president of ballpark entertainment and productions. “The addition of a new Daktronics HD-quality video board in left field falls right in line with our ownership’s commitment to having the best ballpark experience for our fans. Just as the Globe Life Park upgrades have done in previous years, the addition of this video board will add to the in-stadium experience and create a unique atmosphere that you cannot get at home.”

The unique situation at Globe Life Park’s left field display location requires a product with superior brightness to combat the direct sunlight it receives on a daily basis. The new Daktronics’ display being installed is capable of 11,000 nits of brightness to cut through the direct sunlight in this environment.

The display will measure approximately 34’ high by 94’ wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout for excellent image clarity and contrast with industry-leading environmental protection. It provides wide angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium.

“With the installation of our high brightness product in left field, all Rangers fans in the stadium will have a view of the action on a video display,” says Jay Parker, Daktronics vice-president of live events. “We look forward to seeing the display in action for the 2016 season and beyond.”

In 2011, Daktronics installed the display at the home run porch in right field and integrated a digital IPTV network. These products were added to the outfield fence and fascia displays installed by Daktronics in 2009, which upgraded previous installations from 2003 and years prior.

The Texas Rangers won the American League West Division in 2015, the fourth time in the last six years that the team had advanced to postseason play. The Ballpark in Arlington changed its name to Globe Life Park in Arlington in February, 2014.
