Firefly who raised USD 21.5M in Seed Funding back in December 2018 and a further Series A round of USD 30 million in June 2019 (when they also acquired the ‘digital operations’ of STRONG Outdoor) have reportedly let go half of their staff across North America.
In a tweet Kaan Gunay, CEO and co-founder said “Our world today looks much different than it did as little as two weeks ago. Like everyone, Firefly also is grappling with the unprecedented impacts of the novel Coronavirus. Until this crisis wanes, we’re focusing Firefly operations on New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, and Austin and we are continuing to work closely with our driver-partners to the extent they are on the road. I want to thank our team and partners for their many contributions in this difficult time”.
As we said yesterday “Buckle your seatbelt, ’cause SmartCities is going bye-bye!”.
