Digital About To Take Centre Stage As TD Banknorth Rebrands

Chris Sheldrake

Last week TD Banknorth rebranded as TD Bank and according to a number of newswire stories TD Bank spent this last weekend changing its signs on 426 locations in New England and Upstate New York to ‘TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank’ from ‘TD Banknorth’.

TD Bank’s parent company, Toronto-based TD Bank Financial Group, purchased the former Commerce Bank, of Cherry Hill, and rebranded it TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank, in November 2008

News reaches us that digital signage is heavily involved both in an 8 or so branch pilot in Canada. Our spies tell us that Technicolor are doing the content here.

The US project is the really massive digital rollout. It’s a big win for someone but who exactly we are not sure. Banking should be one of those sure-fire wins for folks like Cisco – yeah right, Ed and John Ryan but we are told they definitely not involved.

Diversified Media Group (http://www.divmedia.net/) has run the Commerce Bank digital signage network (500+ branches) flawlessly for the past 5-6 years, so my guess is that they were awarded an extension into the TD BankNorth branches.
