Sorry but we thought the picture caption ‘O, train me not, sweet mermaid†‘ was enough of a clue in yesterday’s story that Denmark deal flow specialist 1st Corporate Technologies Ltd. is currently shopping around an investment opportunity under the code name project ‘Wings’.
To put a stop to the phone calls and emails, ‘Wings’ is Mermaid. It’s funny that there is often always a reason for a sudden flurry of announcements and fund raising by them was obviously an end goal earlier in the year.
For what it’s worth the (initial) asking price is quite high but Mermaid would make a good acquisition for the likes of EnQii (also a full service provider of course) or any other digital signage software vendor that wants to establish a solid base in Scandinavia and get a revenue stream outside of software (media sales, deployment, network operations etc).
A few years ago this sort of opportunity would have been snapped up by Neo Media Group but we doubt there are many media owners who would want to buy into a (combined) hardware / software / network operator / media sales business just at the moment.
Mermaid is a publicly traded company with a market capitalisation of circa 8M DKK (approx. USD 6.8M).
Bottom line though this could be a good acquisition for someone so do watch this space.
† Antipholus of Syracruse:
O, train me not, sweet mermaid, with thy note,
To drown me in thy sister’s flood of tears.
Sing, siren, for thyself, and I will dote;
Spread o’er the silver waves thy golden hairs,
And as a bed I’ll take them and there lie,
And in that glorious supposition think
He gains by death that hath such means to die;
Let Love, being light, be drowned if she sink!
