Harvco Signs, of Dunmore, Alberta, Canada, selected Watchfire Digital Outdoor, Danville, Illinois, to manufacture and install its newest digital billboard, a True-16mm 10‘x20’ board located on Kingsway Ave. S.E. in Medicine Hat, Alberta, a location with a traffic count of 25,000 vehicles daily.

This installation is Harvco Signs’ third digital billboard, and the first digital billboard manufactured by Watchfire Digital Outdoor. Harvco Signs owner, Len Blackman, says he selected Watchfire because of the company’s superior product and excellent service both before and after the sale.

“Everyone at Watchfire has exceeded my expectations,” says Blackman. “I can’t say enough good things about its product and customer service,” said Blackman. “The imagery on the Watchfire board far surpasses other digital boards in the market, and every area of the company–including sales, installation and service–has been fantastic. I have recommended Watchfire to other billboard operators because they are the best.”

Medicine Hat is a competitive digital billboard market, with three other companies offering digital billboards. Despite this, Harvco Signs’ billboard is 100% leased by advertisers, including a car dealership, music festival, retailers and service providers.

Blackman said he has been disappointed with other digital billboard manufacturers. One of his boards malfunctioned and was down for nine days over the prime holiday season. Harvco Signs was forced to refund $4,200 to advertisers.

“I received terrible service and didn’t even get an apology,” Blackman says. “The billboard was only nine months old, and I expect the boards to perform better than that.”

Blackman plans to install more digital billboards and says that he will return to Watchfire as his manufacturer of choice.

Watchfire billboards have the deepest color palette in the industry and use state-of-the-art whole sign color calibration. Watchfire is believed to be the only manufacturer that fully encapsulates its LED modules in a thick bed of silicone gel, enabling the modules to operate indefinitely even in the harshest weather conditions.
