BF Group Rescued By GDS

The recent announcement of GDS’s involvement with UK based street furniture / enclosure manufacturer BF Group will we are sure be spun many ways – the term ‘merger’ that we heard was bandied about first of all was the one that made us laugh out loud the most.

gds logoIn the official press release however Derek Lawrence, Managing Director of BF said that he was “delighted to have GDS backing his company” and so he should be as shining white knight rides to what was most likely a rescue of some sorts.

Derek was quoted as saying in the press release “At a stroke, this catapults BF into the premier league of DOOH (Digital Out of Home) display system providers” which we think is perhaps stretching the point just a little.

Anyway BF Group are now firmly part of the GDS (Global Display Solutions) Group of companies. and it will be interesting to see how they work alongside iBlink, a much more rounded company that they have competed against many times on deals and a company also part owned by GDS.

Richard Swetman, COO of GDS Displays did say “BF complements our e-signage and iblink brands perfectly. GDS has thirty years of experience in the displays industry. Our global manufacturing and technological capabilities are second to none but the DOOH market requires local solutions delivered by local teams who understand their customers. BF have proved that they have these skills and we are delighted to welcome them into our Group”. but only time will tell when the big contracts go out to tender.
