Virgin Media, London, U.K., provider of broadband, television, home phone and mobile, has teamed with Motricity, Bellevue, Washington, provider of mobile Internet services, to launch a service that allows one-click mobile access to leading social networks including Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, along with e-mail sites like Gmail, Yahoo, MSN and AOL Mail.

Virgin Media is offering this service through Motricity’s mCore Connect solution, which provides a single, simple and user-friendly means for consumers to stay connected to their social networks and e-mail while on the go.

“Virgin Media’s mobile customers have access to all the social networks and email sites they visit most and, with Motricity’s mCore Connect, we’ve made it easier for people to stay in touch with one simple destination,” says Jonathan Kini, director of mobile, Virgin Media.

In addition, mCore Connect establishes brand affinity and customer loyalty for carriers by allowing consumers to personalize their mobile experience. And, by combining these sites into one, easy-to-reach interface and delivering a simple means to see things like status updates, it takes much less network bandwidth to serve these consumers.

“Consumer demand for the mobile Internet continues to grow, and we believe empowering consumers to personalize their mobile Internet environment is key to evolving their experience,” says Ryan Wuerch, CEO, Motricity. “Through solutions like mCore Connect, we’re giving people quick and efficient access to the information they need across smartphones and feature phones, while reducing the strain on carriers’ networks. Virgin Media is leading the industry towards a truly customer-centric mobile Internet.”
